If you're just doing this for PM, and are not having issues (weird noises, leaking gasket, etc.) sucking out the fluid is a much easier way to go.

The main benefits to pulling the cover is that you can replace the gasket (if leaking) and you can inspect the gears for damage.

If it's not leaking and not noisy, I would just use suction.

The other thing you could do is jack up the front of the truck by putting the jack on the frame. Then as the truck goes higher it will give more room for the bolts and cover to come off. Just remember to support the frame with jack stands.
