Yeah prolly lol. They jerry rig everything. One of them installed a flip screen in my buddies car and grounded it wrong to a power source or something weird idk but it fried it.
Yea best buy in Katy Texas did a great job on my stuff...they alos let me sit around and watch...I think they guy's at your best buy are just dumb or really lazy.
I had an Alpine deck from the car I sold and it's super easy to get an adaptor. For sound quality reasons I didn't even consider an RF/wireless unit. They're OK, but not for what I wanted.
If you just want to hook in your ipod, go the wireless route. If you want quality sound, you'll need to put out some cash.
Thats a very good idea... I'm going to use that to plug in my kids dvd player. OBTW i also have the Alpine head unit that lets you control your Ipod. Money well spent. Before that I used a cassette adapter.
So what is wrong with the idea I suggested? Hard wired FM tuners can be had for ~$25. A car charger for ~$10 and you can use just about anything for a cradle. $50 will more than cover it and you will have great sound quality over wireless. Not to mention, its really easy to do so you dont have to pay a shop.
It will work just fine it will not sound as good, you have to constantly tune it. You will not get the sound quality because the ipod is still being transmitted through a radio frequency. The Fm transmitter uses a radio frequency that is not being used (static) and transmits the signal to it. If you went with a stereo that has an aux port then you will be able to play the ipod through your stereo and not have to transmit an rf signal. If you do decide to go with an FM transmitter the I would recommend the Itrip it has 16 presets and covers the 80MHZ - 108MHZ RF's. I hope this helps.
I have an Aplpine deck with a ipod controller that I bought used from someone selling their rig. It is the best I have ever had. Made my stock speakers sound great. Lately though I am with Kwick and don't really care if it on or not. I actually have been listening to my new found mods on my truck. Love that turbo.
I use the alpine method. It cost me quite a bit since when i bought the alpine it was one of the first headunits to have the connection, but IMO i would not go any other way. In the glove box outta the way, its a bit of a pain to scroll since i got that stupid scroll bar on mine, but i have gotten used to it.
