If you you have TTB (twin traction beam)you don't. You need to buy a hand pump for fluids and pump the gear lube out through the fill plug and then fill'er back up through the same hole. Hope this helps and good Luck,

My Bronco has 152,000 miles. The last time it was changed was at 98,000 miles. I usually change it every 30,000 miles. The owner before me neglected to do that. when i drained it it was not that dirty. Towards the bottom of the housing I was sucking up a bit of water. I look at itt as preventative maintence. The oil i used is Volvoline SAE 80W-90. This oil is already mixed with a friction modifier. That is required in Bronco's. Your manual states that. To make sure you get the right oil it will say this on the back: For use on all hypoid gears (conventional or limited slip). You need to buy 2 bottles. I used them both. Hope this helps. Any questions just ask!

When did Ford start putting limited slips in the front differential? My shop manual states that the friction modifier should only be used in the rear axle if it's a limited slip. Looks like that would be a big liability issue.
I took a front axle apart on a 1990 Bronco before. It did have traction lock in the front. My current Bronco has a detroit locker. Also Ford did not put in the traction lock. The front axles on a bronco are DANA 44. Not made by ford it self. Ford just uses them in their cars. Just in case you have not seen the 1990 owners manual here is what it states word for word. " Dana axles (FRONT)2 add 4 ounces of EST-MC118-A FOR COMPLETE REFILL OF DANA FRONT TRACTION LOCK AXLE. Hope this helps you understand.
Was a traction lock only avaliable for the front end that year? I can not find anything that says it was a option. Give me more info please! I have two broncos. One that I am rebuliding a 96 and one for parts a 93 maybe one of them has a front traction lock. I know my 96 has the rear traction lock. Have not checked my 93.
Hmmm...I too have never heard of a Bronco having a factory limited slip D44. I've heard of a BII having a front limited slip(only for a year or two in the mid-80's), but not a full size Bronco...Oh well, you learn somethin' new everyday....

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Oct-02 AT 07:38 PM (EST)]If you guys really don't believe me go find an owners manual for a bronco look on page 205. Mine is 1990. Look in there it says exactly what I stated in the previus posts. Hope this helps!
Also my Bronco came with the off-road package to see if you have this check to see if your gas tank has a skid plate on it. That should mean you have an off-road package!
