Foresee a drop in mileage

Had the muffler delete done today. Twenty minutes and $60 at local shop. Couldn't keep my foot out of it all the way home! Should have done this long ago........

Man I did my own with a length of 4" pipe from a F-650 repair, and I love the sound!! Especially when I take off hard from a light, and some yuppie next to me tries to race in his foreign POS and gets enveloped in smoke and very loud exhaust

Well, I'd guess it flows a little better than the stock muffler. Probably more power, lower EGT's(?), better mileage(not yet). To what degree these things will occur has yet to be seen.

Does removing the muffler affect warrenty at all? Wondering what problems I might ever have that they could link the that being gone. I only have 55k on the truck so would like to not void warrenty....it is a 04 f250 6.0psd... THANKS!

Just stopped by my service dealership and inquired about the warranty with this modification. The advisor said that they are very leery of any modification done, especially to the 6.0, but as long as everything from the CAT forward was intact I will be covered. They even refered me to the shop where I had it done. It wasn't said outright, but I got the distinct impression that anything like a tuner would void the warranty. This was at this dealer only, and should not be construed as the final word anywhere else.

Every dealer will be different.

Theoretically, they cannot deny a warranty claim just because you have modified a part. Under the provisions of the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 they have to prove that the part did cause the problem you are trying to get fixed. They also cannot void the warranty because you have modified your vehicle.

Having said that, good luck convincing the dealer otherwise.

Update on latest fill-up. Pulled 15.7 mpg on this last tank, usually it's around 14.5. Every little bit helps, right. FWIW the indash readout said 14.5 before I filled up, which was up from the normal 14.1 or 14.2. I guess the marginally better flow of the straight pipe negated my heavy(check this ***** out!!!) right foot.

I was/am the same way. I did this to my truck 2 months ago (cat and muffler delete) and I love the way it sounds when I get on it from a complete stop
