You really need to find out if there is power to that blue/red stripe wire on the connector.
Process of elimination in the circuit.
Bulbs okay ?
Switch turned for bright illumination ?
Power to connector ?
PC not cracked on that circuit ?
Power at Blue/red wire at headlight switch ?
they shure dont give you know slack when u take the swtich out ....its ruff gettin my big hand in there ....is there a place that it unplugs on under the dash ?
Turn headlamps on to the parking lamp position, the first click, with the headlamp switch turned all the way to the left, just before the dome light turns on, so the ilumination circut will be at full power.
Take a test light put the probe on the blue/red stripe wire terminal, at the cluster connector.
Ground the other end of the test light to ground.
Does the test light "light up"
If it does "light up", then the problem is in the instrument cluster or printed circut.
If it doesn't light up, and your heater control panel is lit up, then there is a problem with the wiring between the cluster connector and the splice "Splice #806" that "Bucks 77 Ford" and I mentioned in our earlier posts.
Tell us if you have power at the Blue/red stripe wire at the cluster connector, then we will go from there.
I FIANLLY GOT THEM FIXED !!!! ...BUT MY CLUSTER THANG IS ROTTED AND THE BULBS DONT GET A TIGHT CONNETION ...SO WERE GONNA GO TO THE JUNKYARD SOMETIME AND TRY TO FIND A GOOD CLUSTER.
BIG THANKS TO ALL YALL FELLAS ....I PRECIATE IT ALOT ...
If you use the printed circut, and front cluster gauge cover you can use the cluster back out of they following years.
1975-1979 F-series
1978-1979 Bronco.
1975-1986 Econoline Vans.
I recommend getting a cluster back piece out of a 1981 to 1986 Econoline Van. The cluster back plastic is made out of better plastic and will less likely rot in the future.
If you just want to swap clusters, you have to get one for a 1977 only. And it may have the same problem yours has etc...
Blue Oval Truck Parts also sells new cluster backs if you are interested in new. And then there is the classified ads too.
I also had problems with the lights on my 77.Mine was the back of the insturment pannel. It was crumbling and falling apart.
With the help of this form I was able to get the RIGHT one on ebay.I'm by no means A machnic and they walked me through it.
Most of the electral problems with my truck is patch work from previous owner-s.Stay factory and do it right. You wont regret it.This form will find the problem.
