Has anyone else experienced a drop in MPG after getting rid of the stock muffler? I straight-piped mine 2 tanks ago and have averaged 2mpg less, per tank, than when the muffler (Walker BTM) was in place.
Any ideas? Ya gotta love that uncorked sound, though!
Hahahaha, prolly have just noticed a loss in Mpg b/c you love the sound so much its hard to keep your foot out of it. I got a 5 inch exhaust on mine and i know what ya mean about the sound. Ya gotta love it.
I am sure there is a scientific explaination for it involving less back pressure and quicker spool up thus demanding more fuel etc etc, but the feel good dopamine in the noggin is primarily responsible for this. Feeling good through external sensory inputs like exhaust rumble and seat of the pants feels is self perpetuating and will lead to further mods AKA PMS. You are not alone.
Until the muscles in your right foot disconnect from your ears and reconnect to the brain the mpg will suffer......thank God strokers have excellent heaters
