Can't Identify Part
Hello. I just bought a 97 F250 HD with a 5.8L engine. The part in this picture looks like a hose should be attached to it. The repair manual I bought doesn't cover the 5.8L...only the 5.4. Does anyone know if a hose should be connected to this?
Also, there's a light under the bed near the left rear bumper. What's this for and how is it turned on?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

picture a is an emission's "muffler" and is fine the way it is--picture b is for covert tire changing or when you want to put a vehicle "locator" on to see where yer girlfriend has been with yer truck----naw just kiddin picture b is an unknown entity--at least for me that is
