It was an 05 Wrangler with a buy it now of $6800. Must've been a scam.

A scam is right.

If an ebay anything sells by "Buy it Now" it'll still be listed, and the ebay catchphrase will say.."auction ended with Buy it Now."

It's a scam. They will ask for payment bia Western Union Moneygram. When you send the money they will vanish,

A guy I used to work with was taken on a purchase when he "bought" a Harley Road King.

This is why ebay has this statement at the bottom of the page:

Never pay for your eBay item using instant cash transfer services such as Western Union or MoneyGram or by recharging somebody's prepaid credit card. These methods are not safe to pay people you do not know personally.

In addition, these payment methods are not eligible for the eBay buyer protection programs.

Friend of mine got hooked for nearly 7 grand for a "gator" type vehicle. Money gone with no chance of recovery. Sucks.

Agreed...a couple years back a buddy of mine almost lost some money on a deal like this. It was a Boxter for around $15k or so, he had to wire a down pmt. When he started questioning it the guy stopped responding and either he or EBAY pulled the auction. He got out lucky, never sent the dough. Proof that you have to watch out for yourself, if it seems too good to be true - it is.
