Hey I've got LIPD's (Matt's tunes) and I have not towed anything yet but hauling sawdust I weighed 18500lbs with the last couple of loads and in the street/economy tune it pulls great. My mileage is not great though (7.46mpg average for last 2000 miles) but it has not been good yet. I have a tow and mild race tune also and I have only tried the tow tune a little with no load. It seemed to work good empty. I have played with the mild race some to and WOW I have not had a chance to play on straight open road so I still have not been able to give it all it had. With the tune I am running it has good power and is quick to shift to high gear. It will brake real good in tow haul mode and if you floor it with a load from stop it will wind it up in every gear and you would think it was a standard as good as it shifts. So far I've only run the econo tune for about 2 weeks and right now it seems to be getting about 1 mpg worst that stock tuning but I bought my truck for it workhorse ability. Even though 10 mpg would be nice too!!!Give LIPD a call I'm sure they will treat you right.

I don't tow anything but as for me, Matt has given me everything he promised. And with my street tune i'm still getting 16 mpg. The trans feels alot firmer and the truck just runs great. It's hard to stay off the pedal all the time. Get in touch with him and i'm sure you won't be disappointed!
Thanks for the replys, but i'm looking for just a tune for the trans.
The stock program seems to down shift out of OD when pulling a load at 70mph too easly, like at half throttle. Then when it's in fourth it will not lock the convter. At WOT it shifts too late, 3400,3500 RPM is too high, it does not make power up there.
I have a 04 f450 work truck with a six speed and I never shift it at 3400 RPM because it does not make power up there, it like to run at 2000 to 3000 RPM.
I know the engines make good power but the stock shift programing does not let the engine lug to take advantage of the engine torque curve.

What you are actually feeling is the torque converter unlocking, not a downshift. We can solve that by locking the torque converter at any time you wish to, all the way down to first gear if towing heavily. And while I can put your shift points anywhere you like; I can assure you that with the torque converter properly locked you won't want the truck to shift any sooner- even the stock tune makes plenty of power at 3500 rpm; and does not actually start to lose torque until beyond 3600 rpm.
The stock programming will leave you severely disappointed in the torque department when lugging. While most diesels will make torque in the 1200-1800 rpm range, the 6.0 is absolutely gutless in that range and the truck will lose power quite rapidly. Keep it above 2000 rpm to keep it in the powerband.
