I checked the refrigerant charge, it is showing charged.
I had the system changed from R12 to R134 in 2002. Also had a new compressor and condensor installed in 2002.
The compressor will engage, do I need to change the High Pressure Switch? If I changed the Pressure Switch, does it open up the refrigerant system?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Your conversion probably doesn't have a high side switch - most don't although it is specifically required. If the high side switch was present and defective your compressor clutch should be disabled.
With the compressor running, feel the evaporator inlet and outlet hoses. They should both be cold, between 33F and 45F. Are they?
Thanks ProjectHO89 for responding. I closely watched the compressor, it is not engaging. Nothing under the hood, or the cab is cool. I used a refrigerant bottle with a pressure gauge attached, purchased from a mass marketer, to read the refrigerant pressure, it said charged. The truck system does have a high side inlet. The mechanic who did the conversion has over 20 years of mechanic work experience, and came recommended. I do 99.9% of my work, but A/C work is over my head.

you will need to install a set of guages and take readings so that we can help you. Its hard to determine a system charge by a can with an unknown set parameter. ambient temp is also crutial in isolating you problem. look forward to helping you.
