I've never tried this but I've heard that you can remove the bottom stud and replace it with a bolt. Then next time, you just pull the bolt to drain. If it's apart, can't hurt to take a look at.

That would be slick if the stud does come out. You might have to round up a copper or plastic washer for the bolt.
