well today i talked to Beans Diesel and so far this is what i have ordered
Stage 1 injectors
Tymar Cold Air Intake
4" turbo back stainless steel exhaust system
DP tuner F5 - 6 position chip
I also called up BTS and ordered a new Valve for the transmission
the truck is a 1997 F350 srw and is basically only ever used for towing a 14k trailer so it gets worked hard the 7.3 has got about 170,000miles and the E4AOD transmission is a reman that the local ford dealer but in about 20,000 ago
so i guess i was just wondering if i am missing anything that will help this old truck pull like or better than our 05 F350 with the 6.0 in it
I didnt see gauges on your list. With those 1s you will need to watch the egts when towing. Looks like you are off to a great start!
The 6.0 and torqshift are pretty sweet at towing, the only complaint I have with them is the fuel milage when towing, I can get 2-3 mpg better with the same trailer.
oh yea forgot about the gauges, i ordered the 3 gauge pod: trans temp, boost, and egt
also when i bring in the truck to work on it i am going to be checking compression in all cylinders just to see how its holding up what should i be expecting to see for pressure?
and ill be checking the hpop pressure along with fuel pressure just to make shure everthing is where it should be
man, talk about being jealous! its awesome you got all that, it will be like driving a totally different truck! and you should be able to smoke some ricers..... towing
audimaster: i have not done anything to this truck yet it is completely stock, so when you say clean out the screen on the fuel regulator what exactally do you mean? is it a known problem for this screen to plug up?
Ben97: I have been kinda looking into a intercooler for the truck but dont have the money now after just ordering all of this other stuff but maybe i can get a cheap one from the local junk yard
Phydeax88: when i ordered the chip the guy i talked to was dusty from beans diesel so they are the ones that are burning the chip for me
6positions: stock, 40tow, 60tow, 80tow, 80economy, and 140hp
oh yea and as far as the tranny goes i talked to the guys at Brians Truck Shop and they are sending me a 100hp valve body, they tried setting me up with a 80hp one but after i talked to them for a while we decieded to go with the 100hp just to go alittle over the top, they said thier valve body will greatly increase the life of the tranny and still not shift to hard
I would also recomond a transmiision temp gauge, the sender screws into the trans. on the drivers side. If temps depending on your driving style stay above 180 degrees, invest in a tranny cooler upgrade. Otherwise you have a very nice list thier. I want injectors bad as well but I'm trying to gather all my supporting stuff first. EG. intercooler, got and stored away.
finnally got back on the computer so i just thought i would let you guys know that everything but the injectors and valve body for the tranny came in today!!! i cant wait for everything to get here so i can start putting it in
so when i do a compression test on this thing what should be the normal range im looking for?
