Factory markup to Dealer

Factory markup to Dealer
Hello people- Can anyone tell me what the factory adds to their cost before they come up with the dealer's price? Is it a straight percentage? I just bought an '07 F150 XLT at the so-called "Dealer's Invoice", less the $3,000 rebate. I realize there may be all kinds of "secret deals" between factory and dealer, but I was wondering what the basic markup from factory to dealer really was. Thanks for any advice any of you can provide. Bobdad

Go to www.carsdirect.com and build the same truck that you baught. It will give you the invoice price. That is what the factory charges the dealer for the truck. You are right is getting the rebates after the invoice. Far too often people believe the rebates are for the dealer. They are for you.
After the truck is sold, the dealer gets a "dealer holdback" that is payed to them by Ford. It is roughly 3% of the MSRP. That is why a dealer can sell at invoice and still make money. If you buy a 35K truck at a invoice of 30K the dealer will receive a check for about $1050. Most dealers will seel for about $500 to 750 over invoice.
