Ford has never been built for the ride, that has been the complaint for years, they have been built for work. This is why they out sell the other brands. I have several friends that own a cement bussiness and are diehard GM, their "work" trucks are all Fords. Their play trucks are chevys. If you are looking for a play truck with all of the options, then buy the toyota, if you are looking for a work truck, then buy a Ford. I have not personally drove one or even seen one up close, but I do know that when I do buy a truck, it will be a Ford.
#1) Ford does NOT outsell GM.
#2) We're talking 1/2 tons here....ALL of them have cushy rides. Not untill you get into the SFA 4X4 Fords (3/4 ton and up) do the IFS GM's have a better highway ride.....which, of course is still subjective.
#3) Your last sentence just tells that you are a closed minded individual stuck in his ways. (no offense intended)
"capacity" vs. "ability" - my 5.4 barely adequately tows my 5k lb boat, 10k would kill it. I tow in Colorado, up 6% grades at 10k feet, the 5.4 absolutely struggles. I have no doubt the Toyota 5.7 6spd 4.30 rearend would tow it like a beast, and save me from having to buy a 3/4 ton truck for something I tow 10 times a year. A 1/2 ton is much more livable as a daily driver, and then add towing "ability", and you've got a winner.
Ding.....ding....ding......we have a winner!!!
Wonder why so many cannot grasp this simple concept.
I wander if Ford had the type of package that the tundras have if more people would buy them. By package i mean powerful engine and a crap load of towing weight.

I have to disagree with this one. I have an 06 F150KR with the 5.4, 3:73 gears and I tow a fully loaded Grady White boat that tips the scale at 6000lbs. Whether I'm pulling it up the ramp or passing on the highway or normal braking I hardly know it's behind me. Could the Toyota do it better, maybe, but I really don't care for the looks of it, and I'd rather stay with a proven work horse.
well, slap a 4.30 gear set in our 5.4's and they will tow pretty good too....most of us have 3.73 gears so stepping to 4.30's will make a big difference....
and just wait until 09 when we have the 4.4 L 330 HP 515 Ft Lb Diesel and a 6 speed auto....then who's king of the hill.....

"Sigh"...........that's the whole dilemma:
Currently.........
You CAN'T get 4.30's in an F-150
You CAN'T get a 6 speed in an F-150
You CAN'T get that fantasy diesel in an F-150
You CAN'T get 400 pound feet of torque in an F-150
Ford has had 4 years to "improve" the 150.
Don't Cub's fans always say "wait untill next year"????
(BTW, some interesting numbers on that fantasy diesel)
But DOHCmarauder Ford's broke. They've leveraged everything they have to keep afloat. So I don't know if a greatly improved, redesigned F-150, is really forthcoming soon. As for Toyota? I'd rebate the hell out of these new Tundras. Because they've got the deep pockets and GM ain't exactly "healthy" either. Put the pedal to the metal when your competition is up against the wall.

LOL!!!!..........kick 'em when they're down!!!
"Supposedly" Ford has a re-design coming in '09......I hope it raises the bar and not just matches the comp......we'll see.
IMHO, Toy will not have to discount much or rebate at all to sell 200,000 Tundras.

ok, first off....who really wants a 4.30 ring/pinion set....it's a little steap for daily driving.....
the 6 speed is nice and it's comming....patience
the diesel will happen...the numbers are from one of the engins they are looking at....one is a 3.6 L and the other is a 4.4 L....the 3.6 L i believe is 270 HP and 480 ft lbs but the 4.4 L is 330 and 515 so keep an eye out for that....
their is nothing wrong with some competition....keeps the compeditors on their toes and thats a good thing....nobody gets stale in their ideas and they keep making things better
all i know is 2010 when my lease is up i'll be in line for the Diesel in my new F-150
Toyota is currently offering rebates on remaining 2006 Tundras to move them out. Last week it was up to $1500.00.
So, you got a good deal on your new truck..saved $8,000.00.
Or did you.
The higher the cash back offers, the less the vehicles are worth. Value guides are not based on MSRP, but from the average price "whatever" is currently selling for nationwide. The MSRP may be 30 grand, but if the dealer gives you 8 grand off that figure, the price drops to 22 grand. And the minute the contract is signed, deduct another 15-20%.
This is the reason so many people are over on their loans. They owe 1000's more than the vehicle is worth.
The reason Toyota and especially Honda have such good resale values is they don't offer huge rebates, and both companies could care less about profit robbing fleet rental car sales.

Have 4.30's in my Super Duty, thinking of 4.88's.............that's what OD is for.
Stale is the exact word I think of when I think of Ford.....they let stuff sit for so long and then end up playing catch up. Crown Vic, Taurus, Ranger and current F-150 come to mind.
