54 wiper switch

Ok dumb question time. does anyone know what the letters on the back of the wiper switch mean? there is an A,P,f, and B? I know according to the shop manual B goes to the ignition switch and is power. I am installing a new wiper switch and the letters in back of that are H, L, P, A, and B. Im assuming B is again battery or ignition and H & L are high and low but A and P? I've hooked it up to power but it doesn't work so I left it till after the grand kid leave to try to run it down. it would help if knew what the letters were for. any help would be appreciated. bill

papabills54, If you have the original wiring from the wiper motor intact, the black wire goes to "P". The red wire goes to "A". And the green wire goes to
"F". And as you stated the "B" terminal is connected to "ACC" on the ignition switch. GUSSO

H is High, L is low, B is battery, and P is park. What kind of switch do you have? Do you have a part number? Also what wiper motor are you using? If it is a switch for a more modern wiper motor the A terminal is either for dynamic braking or the washer function. I just finished retrofitting a Trico motor for a 2001 Saturn into my 55. I can post the schematics for that install if it would help.
