Help! Door Bushing

I seem to have missed something on replacing the hinge pin and bushing. I cannot get the bushing to go in. I have purchase a kit from Autozone and from Napa (appear to be the same), but have had the same results. The hole in the hinge just seems to be too small. Does it have to be srilled or something. I saw on some earlier post where some have replaced them with good success, but I am having the worst time. Help!!!!!!!!! BTW I got the kit # listed in a previous post 675-5183 (Napa). I can't remember the one from Autozone but looked the same as the Napa kit.

I have done a few sets with good results. can't remember the part number right off but they went in good. I took a bolt that fit the bushing good and used that as a driver to tap it in with a hammer. and one I couldn't a swing with that hammer so I used the bolt and nut to draw it in while taping the hinge up into the bushing. also make sure your trying to put the bushing into the correct half of the hinge. the top hinge bushing goes in one half (either the door half or the cab half) and the bottom is opposite.

If you are sure you have the right bushing, then you can put the bushing in the freezer for a while. Heat up the hinge a bit and put some thin oil in it. Then tap the bushing in. As tj says, pay attention to which is which.

Results:

My upper & lower hinges take different bushings. After some trial & error at the parts store we found a set of bushings that worked. The bushings in the box work in the upper hinge but I had to use a different bushing in the bottom hinge. I will post the part # later when I get home. Thank for all your input.

thats interesting. I have done three doors on two trucks and they were all the same. But I guess that explains why you couldn't get them to go in. Glad you got it figured out!

Seriously - I cut my pin in half like 6 Months ago. After much thrashing and plying/Vice Griping, bending ect the pin was still thoroughly stuck. I figured after a little normal use and some wheeling it would get broken free but 6 months later both upper and lower halves are still quite stuck.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
