79 2wd radius arm bushing help?

I am trying to replace my radius arm bushings and can't tell which bushings to use. There are two types for a 78 and more for the 79.

My truck is a 79 but I have found on the door a build date of 78. Plus it doesn't help that someone has replaced the bushings before and they are two different types on either side.

Please help point me in the right direction.

The turck is a 1979, 2wd, F150, supercab, short bed that came with the 460 and c6.

If your 1979 F150 production date is Before 2/1/1979 it uses:

2-C5TZ-3B203-D .. Radius Bushing-Rear

2-C5TZ-3B203-E .. Radius Bushing-Front
-------------------------------------
If your production build date is After 2/1/1979 it uses:

2-D9TZ-3B203-A .. Radius Bushing-Rear

2-E0TZ-3B203-A .. Radius Bushing-Front

Therefore, all 1965 thru 1978 (and some 79) F100/150's use the earlier bushings.

Source: 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalogue: Section 32, pg 5
This is the exact same parts catalog the Ford Dealers use.

Thank you! I will have to look when I will have to check the numbers when I get home.

When you say front & rear you mean the bushing infront of the bracket and one behind?

How many metal "washers" should their be on each side? (driverside has two and the passanger side has four)

You don't happen to know of where I can look at a diagram of this assembly do you?

I went to Napa and bought one for an early 79 and one for a 78. The ones for the 78 are blue and the 79 just look like black rubber. I was going to compare and see which fit best. But now that I have this information I am going to check with the Ford part numbers.

Take Dennis' advice, the Ford ones are crappy, and don't last. (Move: ask the NAPA guy for the early bushings)

Clarifing C5TZ radius arm bushing part numbers.

In the 1980's, Ford changed package quantities on 1000's of parts, and by doing so, changed some of the original part numbers. (DUMB & CONFUSING!!)

So...C5TZ-3B203-C became C5TZ-3B203-E and C5TZ-3B203-B became C5TZ-3B203-D.

Move: Front = Forward / Rear = Aft

Ford Dealer .. 1971-79 picture the same.

There's a special retainer in FRONT, and a washer in the REAR per side. That's IT!

2-Washer: 13/16" I.D. by 2 3/8" O.D. x 3/16" thick

2-Retainer: E0TZ-3B186-A (shaped to fit bushing on one side, flat on the other).

One last question I forgot to ask!

With the truck on stands and the wheels hanging do I need to have a jack under the radius arm? (Is there any pressure there after I have removed the radius arm nut.)

There are a couple of threads explaining how to check bushings without removing the springs.

Yes you need to jack up the spring perch and use a come-a-long to pull forward on the radius arm

My radius arm bracket is bolted in. Someone has all ready removed the rivets and replaced them with bolts. I was just wondering if when I unbolt all the bolts if it is going to want to shoot off any direction.
