I am trying to replace my radius arm bushings and can't tell which bushings to use. There are two types for a 78 and more for the 79.
My truck is a 79 but I have found on the door a build date of 78. Plus it doesn't help that someone has replaced the bushings before and they are two different types on either side.
Please help point me in the right direction.
The turck is a 1979, 2wd, F150, supercab, short bed that came with the 460 and c6.
I went to Napa and bought one for an early 79 and one for a 78. The ones for the 78 are blue and the 79 just look like black rubber. I was going to compare and see which fit best. But now that I have this information I am going to check with the Ford part numbers.
Thank you guys! I am going to try to remember to take pictures before and after to post in this thread. I should be able to get it fiqured out now with your help.
With the truck on stands and the wheels hanging do I need to have a jack under the radius arm? (Is there any pressure there after I have removed the radius arm nut.)
There are a couple of threads explaining how to check bushings without removing the springs.
Yes you need to jack up the spring perch and use a come-a-long to pull forward on the radius arm
My radius arm bracket is bolted in. Someone has all ready removed the rivets and replaced them with bolts. I was just wondering if when I unbolt all the bolts if it is going to want to shoot off any direction.
