Knocking under drivers side floor
Anyone know what could be causing a knocking/metal clanging sound, under the drivers side floor/wheel? Issue started a few months ago. took it into a local ford dealer, where they charged me $$ just to tell me it was mudd. Issue has since gotten worse. There are new breaks, tires, calipers and knuckle. The sound and vibration/knock is very noticeable when going under 20mph, but i've noticed more vibration in the floor and steering wheel lately as well. This is on a 2002 F-150 FX4 Lariat.

Hello shasta_shea and "Welcome to FTE !
Does the noise and vibration get worse in turns to one direction or the other? Is this a flopping type of noise? Does it increase with speed when you speed up? Do you feel it anywhere else or at any other time? Like when braking or when giving a lot of gas. Let us know. Joe

Noise is the same when turning either way or going straight. the sound/knock get less noticeable as you speed up, but lately i've felt it going faster just can't feel it as much as when i'm slower and braking. the only other place that i've felt it is under the passengers side, but it's not as strong as under the drivers side. as for the 'flopping type' noise i'm not sure what you mean, but to me, when i have the window rolled down listening, it sounds alot like a train going over a track, if that makes any sense to you! lol

I had similar problems, clunking sound originating from floor board area, usually on un-even road surface, control arm bushings and ball joints were gone, ended up replacing the whole lot. Now have new beefed up control arms, urethane bushings and grease fittings on the ball joints.

I had a similar problem. It was the break caliper bolts. I had recently put new pads on and the bolts worked loose. I have heard of this several times. Every time i hit the smallest bump it would clunk and i could feel it threw the floor. Your supposed to put new bolts in every time you change your pads i guess. But i never have. I just make sure i tighten the hell out of em.
