Won't start

Turning the key in my '92 Bronco, 4.9L, 5 speed, produces only a single click. Actually, it worked up to this. Used to be I could just try it again and it would work. No more. Only the click now. Upon recommendation, I replaced the ignition switch. No good.

Is the problem the solenoid on the inside fender or the starter itself? Thanks.

I'm going to assume you know the battery is O.K. You can try bypassing the starter solenoid with a remote starter switch (or screwdriver) to verify the starter is working, and narrow it down that way. Or, have someone turn the key to "start", and check with a volt-meter to make sure you get 12V on the back side of the solenoid.

Won't start

try hitting the starter with a hammer
sometimes the brushes inside starter get caught
on a high spot and the hammer will loosen the brushes
if it starts you need a new starter
