I know I probably just missed it here somewhere, but did the wiring harness compatibility change between 95-96 or 96-97 on the F-150? Thinking of a 96 to 95 engine swap here.
Thanks
97 is when they radically changed the body style. I am not sure about the wiring. As long as you are using the same engine, if the wiring was different, you should be able to transfer the wiring and sensors to the new engine.
I was just tonight looking at a code reader from Sun Pro that says "code scanner lets you accurately trouble shoot car problems in Ford 1984-95 MCU and EEC-IV systems" so maybe the change is between 95-96
That's in reference to OBDII. The government mandated all vehicles 96 and up have OBDII computer system, which uses a different code reader.
That still should not matter. If you have the same engine, when you take the engine wires off both engines, you should have the same block and heads. If there is a little difference in the intake manifold or a fitting somewhere, you should be able to swap that over to the other engine.
If you are trying to swap to a different engine, I can guarentee the wiring will be different.
