Does anyone know if a 1998 F-150 SB and 2000 F-250 S/D SB are the same size? I have a guy here selling a topper from his 98. He is about an hour away and I want to save myself the drive if they are different...
The bed size may be the same or similar, but the differences in cab structure may make the topper incompatible.
The F-150 has an area around the window which sticks out towards the bed, while the F-250 drops straight down (check out some pics from the owner's galery to give you an idea). If it's a fitted fiberglass topper the look will be very noticeable. You may see a three inch gap between the cab and the topper.
For a week I had a loaner aluminum topper on my truck that was fitted for a generic SB. The company made it with a slant to avoid the F-150's cab protrusion. The fiberglass unit fit right up against the truck cab and makes the truck's fit and finish seem cleaner.
Basically it depends on the material and who constructed it on whether it will fit and look right. You may need a test fit.
