I have a 97 Ford F-150 4x4 that is stuck in 4 wheel drive low. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get it out? Have tried driving it and going from reverse to neutral and to drive. The light on the dash is not on but it is still in low. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
Have you tried switching it with the gear selector in neutral and your foot on the brake? That should get it to shift, if it doesn't I would start by checking the wires to the switch motor alongside the transfer case.
Is this a manual shift or do you have a switch on the dash to switch from 4 low to 4hi? Many of these have problems with the electronic shift motor on the transfer case. If it is the electronic one then you have to be in nuetral and stopped or it won't shift out of 4 low.
I have the exact same problem on a 97 f150. I unhooked the connector to the shift motor and founf no voltage on any of the pins. Is there supposed to be? engine running i assumed there would be 12 volts somewhere. Its driving me to drink.. not a bad thing but a working truck would be better lol. No error codes in the puter either need the insight of a guru HELP!!!!!!!! fyi.. automatic tranny, 3 position switch on dash.. blue in color, chipped windshield lol
