I have a 2007 F150 Screw King Ranch with audiophile setup
I looked through the threads re speaker replacement
I removed the plastic grill to reveal the 5x8inch speaker and the tweeter above
It appears that the 5x8 can be easily swapped out, but the tweeter looks to be set from the inside as there are no visible screws ala the 5x8, thus maybe requiring door panel removal (ugh)..but im not quite sure.
If anyone has already or has knowledge of the tweeter replacement can you advise??
It's been a while since I swapped mine out in my '05 fx4, but I don't
remember needing to take the door panel off to put the tweeter in.
If I remember right, you can stick your hand up through the 5x8 hole
and reach behind the tweeter location to hold it in place.
I did have to drill a couple of holes through the plastic to mount
my tweeters. I think the factory tweeter has some snap-in mount.
If you have to remove the door panel, it's not terribly difficult. It's
a few screws, and then just lift the panel up and off the door.
thanks for your reply
I am pretty savy when it comes to car audio install. Ive had many setups I assumed that the tweeter must have a clip back there somewhere. I didnt want to pull the panel off for no good reason. I will remove the 5x8 and stick my hand up there to feel around.
ughh 5x8 size speakers are tough to find in an audiophile quality. Figuresd I have two sets of 6 inch mb quartz and Focal neither fits without adaptors or cutting, which i am not doing.
I removed my grill, (easy snaps off)
then I removed the 5x7 driver, could not have been any easier (so far)
the the tweeter.. ughhh major roadblock in the 2007 tweeter mount
seems as though the tweeter is encased in the panel,, when i reach my hand up the main speaker hole, the tweeter is no where to be found, it is sandwiched between the panel and a plastic shroud of cover that runs nearly the width of the door. I cant see any way to remove this tweeter with out a hack job.
maybe there is a secret to pulling out from the front but i havent figured it out.
any help on the 2007 audiophile tweeter replacement
i want to avoid pulling the door panels off.. thery never go back perfectly
Don't worry too much about the front door panels. They they
literally hang from the bottom of the window ledge and are
secured in place by a few screws. Remove the screws, and lift
the whole panel up and off. Can't remember the details on the
rear doors (my memory is going :-( ) but they have to come
off completely to replace the speakers; the rear grills don't pop
off like the front doors.
FWIW, I put in Infinity Reference component speakers in front
and regular 2-way Reference speakers on the rear doors. They
sound good enough for my taste :-)
take off the door and find out. i'm very interested in knowing the answer to this too. i don't have tweeters but i would like to know the insides. perhaps you can call your dealer for some diagrams.
I know this post is way old but i have just found your forum.
I cant seem to get the rear door panels off i have only found
one screw on the bottem of the doo and have removed it and
it will nto lift off or anything im stuck half way through the
install, Thanks in advance for any help..
