how long do the stock shocks normally last on the 3/4T ford trucks, what are the signs they are going out? also when it is time to replace them what are you guys replacing with
04 XLT F-250 6.0/TORQUSHIFT SUPERDUTY 26,000 miles
lots of guys ues bilsteins, i used edelbocks, always have, they give a great ride, i even know of a few people that have gotten rid of the bilsteins for the edelbrocks, just another option!
Depending on your ride I would go either Bilsteins or Dirt Logics...I have an 06 6.0 F250 6" Lift, 37 inch tires (20 inch rims). I blew threw two sets of shocks in less then 8000 miles. The dealer did the lift everything as I bought it as stated off the lot with 2 miles on it. I opted for the Fabtech Dirt Logic 2.25's and I love them, even better then my Bilsteins on the Duramax that I had. Stock truck though I would definitely go Bilsteins.
Paul---your stock shocks were toast when they rolled off the transporter--LOL. Yes--definitely time for some Bilsteins. You won't believe the ride difference and how much better vehicle control is. Unbelieveable.

I replaced mine @ 36,000 with Bilsteins & should have replaced them sooner!

I'm with him.
PS Hope you sell Bilsteins, or are you just a shock **** too?
I'm at 33k miles on my 05 and have been noticing the ride is too harsh for my 6 week old baby. I guess it's time for some Bilsteins. I did put them on the old 97 PSD and I didn't notice much of a difference, but hopefully these will work better on the 05! Just another question, how many miles should these Bilsteins last under normal highway use?
I think it all depends on what you are using your truck for and how you drive it. I just replaced the shocks on my F250XT 4x4 with a set of Monroe gas shocks and am very happy with them. Since the majority of my driving is on highway I found no need to spend the much higher dollars for a set of Bilsteins when the Monroes come with a lifetime warranty at about 1/3rd. the cost.....Dan Thome (Trap2)

You might want to ask the question to Bilstein users, but I've heard that they ride more harsh than the stock shocks. I don't doubt that they are great shocks, but they might not be the best for your situation. I personally went with the Rancho RS9000 shocks because I carry a very large truck camper. The beauty of these shocks is that they are adjustable for dampening. So when I'm running around with no load, I can set them for a soft setting and the truck rides smoother than it did with the stock shocks. When I load my camper, I max out the rear shocks and they do an awesome job of dampening out the sway that's caused by that large top-heavy weight know as a truck camper. All it takes is a couple seconds to turn a **** on each shock. And if you want to go deluxe, you can get an onboard air system that allows you to adjust the shocks from in the cab.
