I'll be ordering a DP tuner chip tomorrow, and need the code off of my Excursion's PCM. I saw on Jody's site where to get it.
I thought I saw a few posts that said you need to remove the battery cables before doing this? I just need to snap the connector out to get the code off the side.
Then, do you need to remove anything inside to get to the PCM itself? I looked quickly yesterday and it looks like there is a large black plastic piece right behind the emergency brake where the PCM is supposed to be per Jody's site.

direction for chip install http://www.itpdiesel.com/other/DP-Tuner/DP-Tuner%20F5%20chip%20installation.pdf you can see where the bar code is in this pic as well..sometimes you can read them with a mirror under the brake cylinder in between the big plug and inner fender well..no need to un hook that batteries..how ever i did .. just make sure key is out of the truck..you will ver happy with the DP tuner..good luck
when I installed my dp-tuner a few weeks ago, I disconnected the 2 batteries just for safety. there is a bolt in the front of the pcm on the firewall side holding it in place. To remov it from inside the vehicle Yes it is located behind the emergency brake, after you remone the 2- screws that hold it on the bracket you have to pul it towardds the passengers side and back to release a clip that is holding it in there. You cant see the clip. This baffeled me for about a 1/2 hour then i called Jody and asked him why it was so hard to remove, then he told me what to do. If you call them first, you shouldnt have to remove it to order it. Just give them your year, VIN, type of tranny. etc. He will ask you for this info anyway. This will save you a removal of the pcm before ordering. Jody can look up the info on your truck before he loads the tune with the info you give him.. Thats what i did and it works fine. The only issue I has was the cleaning of the connector, I had to take the pcm back out and reclean it again then it connected perfect. Just so you know this, if your truck dosent start it means a bad connection, thats what happened to me. hope this helps Jeff

givin the vin will work provided the PCM was never changed...better off just getting the code off of the PCM..it only takes 15 minutes to pull and re install
