I've been chatting with some guys in the fuel system forum about this already but I'm wondering if anyone here can help me.
I'm trying to determine if my fuel sender is bad. Does anyone know what resistance values I should get if I measure across the sender at different tank levels?
I don't necessarily have an answer for you off the top of my head, but I seem to remember that the Chiltons manual has that value for you. Check it out.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-Nov-02 AT 05:49 PM (EST)]Awesome. Thanks. Where is that schematic from?
Thanks for the values in the next reply too! So based on that and the recent realization I had my meter on the "x10" range, I'm getting two readings, 60 miles apart both at 15 Ohms The first reading was within 30 miles of a fresh fillup. Definately looks like a bad sender to me.
Second question, I thought the pump and sender came as one unit but I find out they can/have to be bought seperately. Can they be replaced seperately? Should I just bite the bullet, pay the extra $200 and do them both now so I don't have to pull the tank again later?
They should come together. I have a used one from a Bronco & one from something else... If you post the PN from yours, I'll compare it to my spares - I may be able to hook you up for a LOT less!:-X12
Well, I called the dealer and they quoted $250.00 for the pump and $20.00 for the sensor, said the sensors were in stock and pumps would have to be ordered. Called the local Discount Auto's and they had the pump at $140.00 and say they can't get the sender. My Haynes sayes they are all one unit. Anyone got a factory manual for a 93 Full size Bronco? I don't know the PN and since this is my daily driver, I need to have the parts in hand before I drop the tank, I'd have to get the dealer back on the phone for the PN.
And of course, Zippy in service couldn't just spend a few minutes to look up the details fro me unless I come in for a $80 diagnostic
What could you find in a manual that you don't already know? I have the '95 Bronco EVTM, '93 truck & van wiring diagrams, and I'm waiting for a CD with service, PCDS, & EVTM for all '96 trucks (which have the same sender as your '93) but none of them show PNs.
