Windshield wipers stuck 98 Explorer

Wow, My Wife's 03 did that on her way home from work during Wed. storm.
When I was checking out the problem the motor had juice and was real hot. All I could do was force them to move and that freed them up. Somehow the linkage froze up. She drove 40 miles with no wipers!!

The same thing happeened to me.
Just take several gallons of "Hot Water" and
pour it on the grill between the windshield and the hood.
This will melt the ice that has formed on the mechanism below.
It freed my wipers up in no time...
Of course parking in a nice "WARM GARAGE" for several hours
would do the same thing... Or use a "Hair Dryer"
