Headers to an aussie 351
just thought id give a shout out to all of the old skool truckers out there. Have finally had the exhaust system on my 79 looked at and had a complete headers/ twin system put on
(its a dangerous game when you work for a motor parts store)
one tip of advice though,
if your looking at getting anything done, make sure that they ask ALL questions. (eg, does it have ac, powersteering, was it originally a six cylinder)
I ran into a couple of problems. i bought the headers separately and they supplied me 4x4 headers (ive later found out) then they wouldnt fit around the power steering box, which is a pain when they convert the steering to the 'right' side of the car... followed by the starter motor and last but not least, check your front cross member.
i still saved myself some money in doing some research on it and have ended up with a twin 2.5 inch system that tucks just in front of the rear rims
( a helluvalot better than the rusty single system i had)
.... and how does it sound, i hear you ask?
i can only compare it to the sound of the end of the world coming!!!
Simply awsome

....and i cant believe how much morepower ive got (seriously)
have just had a decent tune over the monster.... i cannot beleive how much better it runs (well considering the old system was making it sound like it had asthma)
as you do with a great note, i decided to give it a bit more gas at the corner (literally running it on lpg) and i managed to get a nice chirp out of the back wheels.
not that i condone reckless driving in any way
, but i was very impressed in my newly woken longbed
