My friend has a 04 6.o with an 04 engine and the truck turns off the tow haul when pulling his 11,000lb 5th wheel trailer up steep grades he says it drop,s to 1000rpm,s.Dealer changed wire harnes but it still does it.
has anyone experienced hard shift when turning tow/haul on. seems like when rolling slowly and turning it on my trucks jolts as if it doesnt like being engaged. should i take it to the dealer? i only have 6k miles on it. engaging at higher speeds is no problem. i dont understand?
I had this happen once, but I don't usually turn it on at that time. I either turn it on and leave it on, or when I begin to slow down, for the braking effect.
towhaul does change the tranny shifting strategy. Shifts are firmer and sooner down shifting and later up shifting. You really shouldn't notice any difference when engaging it unless you're doing it at really low speeds and the tranny downshifts because it thinks you're towing something. If you think you have a problem, find someone who has a similar truck and ask them or get them to drive it and see or take it back to the dealership and ask them to test drive it. I personally don't think you have a problem by the way you describe it.
Sounds about normal as you have it described, but you are also hearing it second hand.. and sometimes the story changes.. Have your buddy get on FTE and set up a SC..
