Suspension Height Sensor Control Ring

Does anybody know what the Suspension Height Sensor Control Ring is used for, it is on the steering column?
What circuit is it in?

It seams to be on all Ford truck from 1992-1996. Maybe before that and after but that is all that I checked.

Would it be related to the RABS system? That is the only thing I can think of, where I have seen a control rod going from the rearend to a valve for the braking system on those year trucks. But if I remember correctly, that worked more on the twist of the rearend housing than the suspension height.
