On my '95 I just took every screw out that I saw, eventually you'll have to separate the two halfs, there is an upper and lower one if yours is made like mine. There will be nuts attaching it to the floor.
I also have an 03 automatic, I believe there are screws in the cup holders. One in each cup holder.
Are you putting in a different console? Let us know.
assuming yours looks like my 02, i want to say there are screws in the very bottom of the cupholders. i'd also guess there's a couple in that back tray too.
curious why you're doing so. i've been thinking lately about trying to find a larger console. it seems like there's a lot of wasted space in front of it, and it could be built-up a lot more to provide for some more storage
hhmm, I didn't see any screws. that why I asked. I'll look again tomorrow after work. I am trying to remove it so I can get to the airbag control module. I bought the truck as a rebuilder and I'm done repairing it except the module and the bags themselves.
If it's like my '98 that came with bucket seats, then you first have to remove the armrest before you can remove the console. There are two small cover panels on each side of the console towards the rear, pop them off and remove the bolts underneath. After you remove the armrest assembly you can see the screw that holds down the console back there.
Up front, the cupholder either pulls right off or there may be 1 or two screws securing it to the console. The cupholder screws would be underneath any padding or inserts.
After the cupholder is removed, you can easily access the two screws underneath the console that holds it down up there. That's all there is to it.

There are screws under the cupholders, big plastic ones. Pull the rubber mats up from the bottom of the cupholders and you'll see them. Then you sort of pull up and back and it'll come loose. (After you get the other screws of course). Like the other post said, mine is an 02 and I'm assuming yours is the same.
