Hi there again everyone. Got another problem for you. I had to replace the TPI sensor because it was reading 5.38V with the key in the on position. According to the book it shoud read between .5 and 1.V. The new one corrected this problem......readings being at .84V closed and 4.65V open. Now this should give the right readings for the truck to start, but nothing happening. It just turns over....anyone else incounter this problem????????????
Thanks in advance for your help.
Well the idea here is to find out what the engine is missing. It needs four basic things to run:spark, fuel, compression, all at the right time(timing). So find out which one is missing. If it's fuel, check for fuel pump operation, relays and related fuses. If it's spark, check for power at the coil, the coil itself and the most likely culprit of your whole problem - the ignition module on the side of the distributer. It's gray, has a connector going into the front of it and they fail all the time. You'll need a special tool to get it off easily and they run about $50 to replace. Good luck, I hope this helps.
Depending on model year, the ignition module could be up near the firewall on the driver's side inner fender. Ford moved it in later years to get it away from the heat of the engine. I know this is true of my '92.
