I have an 06 F-350 6.0L with almost 12,000 miles on it. So this morning I was driving down a local highway and I looked down at the speedometer and it is reading past 100 mph. I know I wasnt going that fast. So I get off the highway and pull into a parking lot. With the truck in park, the Spedo read 55mph. The tach was also reading about 300 RPM higher than normal at idle, but the engine sounded lower. I shut the truck off and then restarted it..hoping that it would reset..but not this time..I took it to the dealer and took it in. I get a call from the service rep and he told me that ford egineers are aware of this problem and there is no fix yet. He printed off a special service message about it. Of course the only way to reset the spedo is to hook it up to the computer. Its all covered under warrenty, just a pain when I drive on the highway a lot. Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix? Thanks a lot!
I too have the same problem, my truck is an 06 and it has about 25,000 miles on it, took it to the dealer and they told me that they could not reproduce the problem and just to take it back when it happens again, trust me, the speedo will go back to 0 and working properly, just give it some time, now this problem is still there but just not doing it now!
Had the same problem with my 06. It has 9300 miles on it. I would be running at highway speeds and the speedometer would be stuck on 0. They played with the computer twice and now they have ordered a new instrument cluster that is due in monday. Let you know how it goes.
I've had the same thing going on with my 05 since 10,000 miles and now with 69,000 it still happens once in a while. Speedo will stick or start to fall to zero then after awhile, all better. The tach will wonder from time to time also, mostly after the speedo was being fresh. I have been told same as you guys, no fix, can't duplicate, we will and have changed clusters. If that is my biggest problem I will consider myself lucky... other than that, love the truck.....
Ditto on my 2005, speedo and tach sticking at variable speeds and rpms. Dealer said they were having issues and it needed a whole new cluster. No problems since.

Oil Leak from Rear of Engine Area: Stuck/bouncing Speedo and/or Tach, 2006 Trucks Built Before 1-26-06:
Before diagnosing the instrument cluster for this issue, first check for codes stored in the ABS module or engine computer. If there are no relivent codes, check the vehicle speed input to the cluster while stopped. If the input and the displayed speed do not match, drive the vehicle and monitor the speedometer at 0, 20, 40 and 60 MPH as indicated on the scan tool. If the speedometer is off by more than 5 MPH, replace the cluster. If the speedometer display matches the sensor input, diagnose the ABS rear axle speed sensor and wiring, and the ABS module wiring. For tachomater concerns, check the RPM signal in the engine computer against the tach reading at 1000 and 2000 RPM. If the display is more than 250 RPM off, replace the cluster. I just bought a 2007 F250 Lariat and it has the same problem. I only have 831 miles on the truck. It was originally stuck on 70 mph and reset itself over a couple of days. Took it into Ford and they said they were aware of the problem on other trucks and that I needed a new instrument cluster. Currently on order.
