Actually it is pretty easy. Just remove a half dozen or so screws from the dash area. I think that you will actually only have to remove the right side lower panel that has the 4X4 switches (if auto lock)and then remove 1 screw that holds the left side on. The rest of the panel is removed by prying it from the dash with your fingers or a small screw driver. I just replaced a few bulbs on my 89 and it was easy to remove the entire dashboard.
Good luck to you.

headlight switch
Well I got the lower left pannel off where the headlight switch, wipers, and rear window defrost are. Then I unscrewed a metal bracket that holds the healight and wiper switches to the dash. Now my problem is on the metal bracket the headlight switch is held in place by a nut, but I can't figure out how to take that nut off. It is not as wide as your standard nut so if I put a wrench on it I will strip it. What do I do? If I do use a wrench to take it off does anyone know the size? I am thinking that it is metric

Disregard the last post I made, I fixed it kinda. I got the headlight switch replaced, but the new one doesn't work right. The dome light will come on before it clicks when turned all the way to the left (I can picture a dead battery). So I will return it and get another new one.
