Clunk shifting into 2nd gear
My 94 F150 XL Enforcer makes a tranny clunk shifting from 1st into 2nd gear with the clutch pressed to the floor. The only time it doesn't do it is when the revs are right down to an idle...(almost rolling to a stop). i'm not sure what the idle is because there is no tach.
It doesn't do it in any other gear...only 2nd.
The clutch was replaced almost a year ago.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

shift forks. top of the tranny. when they wear thin, it causes this kinda stuff. mine got stuck in 2nd one day because of it. lots of info on the site, do a search, but I'll give you the short and skinny...
E-brake on, shifter in neutral. remove shifter, pull back the carpet. there's an access panel, remove the 10-12 bolts and pull the panel away. it'll probably have some black adhesive holding it down. I used a putty knife to cut thru it first. be careful not to bend up the floor pan.
now you're looking at the top of the tranny. remove about 10 bolts to top cover of tranny. remove top cover of tranny carefully. flip it over, those U shaped things are your shift forks. i imagine your 1-2 shift fork is shot. while its apart, wouldn't hurt to do the others.

This article goes into part of this operation, all except the forks. It is about replacing the rubber plugs on top the tranny that cause ATF leaks in our Manual Tranny, so if you are gonna do the forks, do the plugs also. https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/...e_Measure.html
I have also seen some online tranny shops selling rebuild kits that include the forks.

syncros could be the problem. i wouldn't rule it out yet. but you can get a good look at your shift forks without too much disassembly. it should be pretty obvious if the 1-2 fork has worn thin. getting to the syncros to check them out...whole new ballgame.
