I have an 88 bronco with a newly spruced up 302. I have put about two hundred miles on the engine after recently having the heads freshened up due to a bad exhaust valve. The check engine light has been comimg on after the truck gets warm so today I pulled the codes and found a continuous memory 41 during the KOEO test and cleared it, then ran the KOER test and got a 24. So I have my book and I see the 41 is HEGO (h02s)sensor signal out of range/ always lean, and the 24 Air intake Charge Temperature sensor (ACT/ICT)or Vane Air Temp. (VAT) out of range. So I guess my question is; what and where is the ACT? Secondly why is the truck registering lean? I'm not real experienced using the codes to diagnose a problem, I think this way will be much easier. I would appreciate any advice or experience. Thanks, Mike.

I have an '85 Crown Vic Wagon w/302 and CFI.
I get codes 21(coolant temp. sensor) and 24(intake air temp. sensor) prior to warmup. Then they disappear.
The Intake Air Temp. Sensor is behind the throttle body on the driver's side. Screws in like a lightbulb and has 2 wires running to it. Easy to remove and replace if fouled. Some say you can clean it with brake part cleaner.
Did you find out why you're running lean? I'm getting the same code 41, and I have a bad miss at all speeds. Maybe the O2 sensor is bad? Computer THINKS the mix is too lean, so it overcompensates and floods the engine?
The ACT is screwed into the L side of the plenum (upper intake) just above the fuel rail on one of the intake runners near the middle of the engine. It may have 1 or 2 wires. The older ones commonly go bad, but you'll probably only have to replace it once since the new design is better. Same for the oxygen sensor, which is in the exhaust Y-pipe just ahead of the first cat. I'd look for a lifetime Bosch.
