Drivers side engine lift bracket

Back around Christmas time I had something hit the firewall around the brake pedal area. I stopped and looked under the hood and did not notice anything so I continued driving. I did notice that since that time I had a rattling noise coming from that area. Last Sunday as I was driving from Phoenix to Norfolk I was at a gas station and heard a noise under the hood, I opened it up and I noticed that the drivers side engine lift bracket was sitting on the exhaust manifold flange and leaning against the firewall. Appearently it had broken off however I can't figure out why. Has this happened to anyone else and is there anything else that just breaks off the engine.

Never heard of it happening.

Between my 2000 4.2 F150 and my 2005 4.2 F150, I have about 253,000 miles total.
I haven't ever had anything just break off.

Mine did it too. My former '02 model had a "rattling sound" from under the hood, opened it up with the engine running, and you could see it vibrating. It broke just above the the stud where it is bolted to the exhust manifold. Someone on here told me to look for it, so there's at least one more, but I could not tell you who it was.

Thanks for the the replies. At least I know mine was not the only one. I wish I knew what caused it to come off, there is no apparent reason for it.
