E40D Overdrive Issues

Here is the story 302 hooked onto an E40D, Driving down the interstate doing 65mph at 3,200rpm doesnt seem to me like it is in overdrive on fourth gear. i also have a gear selector that does not line up, how would this issue be resolved. my friends think it is strange driving down the interstate in neutral. and i think i am getting hit on gas.

Get a Hayne's manual--your selector lever may need to be adjusted. Or, your O/D light may be out and overdrive may be locked out without your knowledge. If the light is on, overdrive is not.

okay well i already know my selector is needing adjusted, i drive down the street doing 50 reading "Neutral". so if the selector is off and not hitting it, then shouldnt drive engage it? not sure but neither hits overdrive so i just figured the locker isnt working anymore, i also have no lights, starting to hit that old age point where everything is blowing fuses and needing new wiring.

I have a '92 with the E4OD transmission. The light for 'overdrive off' has burned out. Is there a bulb to replace, or do I need to replace the entire stalk? How do I get to the bulb?

Thanks.

Solution was to replace the overdrive button. Replacement part number 49299 made by Dorman. Bought at Pep Boys for $6.88. Installed by pulling old end cap off with a pair of pliers.
