I was just in your situation. I could get a 4x4 gasser or 4x2 Diesel. After talking to a gear head friend i learning about the differences. At that point i added to my budget and got a 4x4 diesel. I wasn't sure of decision until earlier today, i ( in my new 80K mile diesel) drove by the new 4x4 gasser. And was grinning that i didn't but that piece of chevy. You can't do big thangs with 2x4.
Resale is relative to the original purchase price. High bluebook for a 01-02 4X4 F250 XLT V-10 ex cab, In nice shape with low miles is only around $14,000. Very afordible for the awsome trucks that they are.
I don't want to turn this into a gas VS diesel debate, but the V-10 will cost you less up to around 200,000 miles. The 7.3 didn't go over 200,000 without needing major head work and we all know why Ford Just changed the Powerstroke to a New 6.4!

What major head work is needed on a 7.3 that ONLY HAS 200,000 miles???
This is the first I have heard of this . My 96 was running great when I sold it at 226,000 and I have friends with well over 250,000 on 7.3's still running like new.
