Rear End Click

Hello, first post.

My wifes 2002 Screw has developed a click when placing the car in gear. I checked the u-joints and they are tight. Applied grease to the yoke without and change. Is it possible that the rear end needs re-shimmed? This is a 3.73 limited slip rear end.

Thanks

Garry

Hello and Welcome!

Are you sure it's not just taking the slack out of the driveline?

i agree, might be in the trans too. does it do it when you stop, then accelerate, or just when you put in gear the first time. possibly not a problem.

yes it does this when stopping and accelerating. Not a clunk like a u-joint and no vibration. Just a click.

I always thought a clicking sound from a limited slip rear end was the clutches.
Fluid change needed? Maybe?
Someone with greater knowledge will know more than I.

I have heard the same thing. Drain and refill.
