Ok guys I have been lookin around on here and doing some research and have narrowed it down thanks to amiller (truley a money save, your awesome). Here is what I plan on installing (I have about 2000 right now so still got some saving to do). Let me know if I need any thing else or don't need something. Any common must do's before I get all this stuff would help such as things that ford didn't do to well (I'm not talking about performance stuff, just nick-nac things).
1. MBRP smoker exhaust kit with 36" angle cut 5" stacks
2. DP tuner with 80 econ, light tow, med tow, heavy tow, race 120, extreme 140, and smoke 140.
3. 6637 air filter mod
4. BTS VB
5. Wicked wheel
6. 6.0L IC
7. 3 gauge assembled pillar w/ dipricol gauges (what's a sweep gauge?)
8. Banks big head actuator (do I really need this or is the stock one fine?)
9. Airdog fuel air eliminator (do I need this or no?)
10. Do I have to do any fuel or oil mods to keep up with all this or is it fine?
11. Banks billet torque converter (do I need this to handle the extra power or is stock fine?)
Thanks guys...PMS for sure..you werent joking lol.
Personally, I would also consider an oil bypass filtration system and an external filtering system for both coolant and tranny fluids. Keeping particulate contamination out of the engine will certainly add to it's life expectancy, assuming that the truck doesn't get over abused with the bennies from the other mods you're planning.
Then again, longevity is of utmost importance to me, and I recognize that everyone else doesn't always share that perspective.
I just finished (ha ha ) my mods for now. I started the middle of january and did them on weekends one at a time to see how each one worked after installation. What I did forst was I ordered the Ford AIS severe duty intake with the fender mod. It fits perfect since it is made for the truck and sucks plenty of cold air. Then I ordered my guages from Diesel Manor (3 set pillar) Nice kit, paint included to match truck, then I assembled them the night before the install. it wasnt that hard to do. Then the install took about 5 hours in the driveway (in 20 degrees too). Still went easy. drilling the manifold is not hard either, it sounds worse than it really is. Then I ordered my DP-Tuner (no start, stock, 60 tow, 80 econo, 120 race). Then the BTS Valve body to go with it. Make sure you tell BTS what tuner you are getting and he will have the vb made to order. also tell jody at dp-tuner that you are planning on a vb and he will program the chip for that. The dp tuner install took mabe 1.5 hours. the vb install took maybe 2 hours. I also installed a MBRP 4" stainless exhaust (turbo back). That took about 4 hours with 2 coffee breaks.. then the last thing i ordered was the overboost kit from ITP diesel (44.00) to control any overboost issues. So I think I spent 1800 on my mods so far. Doing the istalls myself was cool. I wasnt sure at first but after reading the posts here and getting the directions from here I had no problems. Hope your mods go well... Jeff
8. Banks big head actuator (do I really need this or is the stock one fine?)
Don't need it with the mods listed

Unless you really like spending money simply consider the Hutch and Harpoon in-tank mods. These inexpensive mods will get rid of the majority of free air in the fuel.

The BTS valve body will suffice for now. The HD TC will only put additional stress on the weaker parts in the factory tranny.
Cool thanks. And as far as odd and ins go for regular mods to increase longevity? For instance I saw some where on here some one talking about a H hose or something so stuff like that. Again all this is a big help. Can't work today since the weather is so bad and our streets are one big ice sheet, so I am bored and trying to get this truck to last forever.
............and trying to get this truck to last forever.
Well in that case forget all the mods and only install aftermarket oil, water and tranny bypass filtration. Anytime you install power mods, you are going to stress something beyond stock conditions and it will break sooner.
yea I just want it to last longer while I play...should have re stated that. Oh and I have to have the power mods and exhaust, pulling a 30 foot 5th wheel now loaded with stainless steel tubing (I am now the weekend pickup/delievery guy for my dad's company lol damn strong PSD).
If you want an aftermarket convertor, go with a PI Staillion.
I talked to Brian who also sells the PT TC. Yes, you can do it but why? With an older trans, what will happen when it breaks? How will you clean the TC? Only way I know of is to cut it open and clean it. Why not change the TC when you get a new trans? Glad I didn't change mine and just did the VB because my trans crapped out a month later when the diode locked. Thanx Ford.
yeah I am only doing what I have to to get the truck to run better with the mods I will be putting on it. Remember this is my first powerstroke, first ford really. And since I don't have to do the TC I wont....more money in my pocket. I wish I had a stick though so this isn't even a concern but oh well.
And guzzle I don't understand the HUTCH mod or the harpoon mod. I read it but have no clue what they are showing or explaining....don't even know the mod they are doing because it all looks the same to me....ahhh I hate being a newbie. If only I knew someone around here that knows a thing or two about these that wont charge me an arm and a leg.

Well, where are you? I know your not near me cause you mentioned the ICE word, we don't do ice in central Alabama(cept maybe in our cocktails), matter of fact tonight were havin tornados....
Amiller, if your working in MGM tonight be careful....
Anyhoo, let us know where you are and maybe some of the brotherhood will chime in and help you.

The Hutch mod involves dropping the fuel tank, removing the mixer screens and other components that allow air to be sucked into the fuel line. Also eliminate the quick connects external of the tank to the fuel pump as they will also introduce air into the line. The addition of a pre-pump filter is necessary to protect the pump since the screens in the tank are removed. ITP Diesel has a nice kit to do it all.
The Harpoon mod allows a quicker fill of the fuel tank by removing the vent tubes that protrude into the tank.
