I stay with the synthetic year round..My engine used to romp, romp in the middle of the summer time (truck in the garage at night) when i used the dino 15W40. No problems now with synthetic... I will never go back to dino..

same thing happened to me when i tried lucas. first start of the day, my truck would have the romps and run a little funny until it warmed up. Didnt matter that it was 90* outside. Went back to 15-40 and all is fine.

I must say though, I wish walmart carried the rotella 5-40 synthetic so I could try it out.

Try asking them to order it for you... It is a normal product for Walmart and they should have no problem getting for you..

I use Rotella syn 5w-40 and it makes a big difference. It was -37 here this morning and the truck fired up and ran like normal, but it was plugged in.

You can change from synthetic 5W-40 to regular and visa versa. For example, many folks run the Shell Rotella synthetic 5W-40 during the winter then change back to Delo 400 15W-40 during the warmer months.

Wal-mart doesnt have it available for your oil change. I always take my vehicles to walmart cuz the price is just hard to beat. $41 and change gets the oil changed in my truck right now. Last time I priced it, I could barely get a 5 gallon jug of 15-40 for that price. I keep asking, but until they have it, i am going to stick with straight 15-40.
