ok so Im sure it works just as good as the amazing tornado but it looks like it would work. Has anyone tried this. It says you get 2.1p.s.i. would this even make a difference. How about mpg? thanks for the info
ya I figured it was but was worth a shot. I just wish my truck had just a little more power. Then maybe I could accelerate from a stop light as fast as other cars.
It's a four banger with an extended cab and big tires... you can't expect much.
What rear end gears are you running? If you have higher gears (numerically lower), swapping down to lower ones would give a nice boost faster acceleration.
ya I know. I bought it with 4.10's and just havent had the money to regear it to 4.56. The guy that owned it before me said he wanted the gears to be taller to get better mpg. He was so off. It uses more gas now just b/c you have to put it to the floor just to stick with traffic. I think im just gonna sell this and upgrade to a newer 4.0 with 5 speed auto. I think that will be plenty fast plus still get good mpg.
This has to work, it's impossible that it can't. It acts like a supercharger except it doesn't run off a pulley. That being said, one can't expect huge power gains at 2.1psi. Also like it was previously mentioned the elctrical power needed to run this must be impressive. Most superchrager setups run at about 8-9psi(without mods) with a variety of results.
Is it worth it? not my call.... but I'm not buying one.
Actually there is no reason an electric supercharger cannot work. In fact, a guy named Thomas Knight has perfected the ESC-400 electric supercharger and markets them. The problem with them is they need a strong battery pack and they are good for short bursts only. (Kinda like Nitrous O injection) Then the battery pack has to be re-charged. In addition, they are too small for larger displacement engines (Say 3.5 liters or more they are useless). Boosts are in the 7 psi range and above. They do not use direct drive, but use an offset drive system hooked to a centrifugal s/c. My question is, why bother? At his prices you are better off investing in a Kenne Bell or other top name brand.
