I am trying to remove the steering knuckle on the passanger side of my d60 front axle and i got the top ball joint to break free now i can't get the bottom to ball joint stud to let go i have tried rapping it with several different hammers, dead head, dead blow and 3lb mall, how the heck to i get it to break free and get my knuckle off?
I have one pickle fork and its great to have around but I dont really like using it for ball joints much. I have a cheap craftsman 2-jaw puller I use on ball joints now. The puller is great for joints you dont necasarily want to replace too, like tie rod ends when you are replacing ball joints ect. The pickle fork will ruin the boots on any joints you use it on. And on really stuck joints i've set tension on the puller and then had to tap in the fork to get it to brake loose. The puller is signifigantly more expensive but I do alot of mechanics work so it is worth it to me.
