Do you have a CEL or any pending codes? If no codes found, it sounds like a IAC problem.

CEL = Check Engine Light.
IAC = Idle Air Control valve. Usually the culprit with idle problems.

Some have had success with removing it, then cleaning it with some carbureator/throttle body cleaner. Others don't have the paitence for that and just replace the IAC with a new one. Good luck!

Does anyone know where the IAC is on the K&N cold-air intakes for a 2001 Ford F150 4.6L? I've got a similar problem. The truck hesitates to start sometimes. It will start a bit, then seem like it's going to stall, and then rev up again and run OK.

The IAC is not located on the intake air duct. It is mounted directly to the throttle body. Good luck!

Gratzi! I'll check it out. It seems like one thing after another with this truck, and for some reason, I still love the thing.

The IAC (Idle Air Control) valve is attached to the throttle body. The throttle body is the butterfly valve that you open and close with the throttle cable when you push on the gas pedal. Good luck!

If I am not mistaken, it is on the back of the throttle body on the right side.
