A Roller-Cammed EFI331 It Is,Then......
After thinking it over for some time, now, I've decided to have my 1990 Bronco's 302 built into a super-nice 331 incher, rather than stuffing a big-block EFI460/E4OD in it.The cost probably would be almost even between the two.I haven't ruled out a EFI460 swap into my next Bronco, however. For everyone who has a stroker engine out there, and are looking for custom emblems : 331,347,393,or 408, I'm about to order a set of the '331' emblems. It's a company out of Washington state. They are currently on ebay.I searched "ford emblems" and found them.

Well, I have a friend who has a mild 331-inch "302" in a pickup that's had nothing but good things to report about the combination. As for the 347 stroker,I've heard these don't last too long in street trim, that they are more suitable to the track, and in lighter vehicles, like a late-model Mustang. To get a 393cid stroker,I'd have to yank out the 302& replace it with a 351,then put in a 3.85" stroke crank.Heck,if I were going to go to all that much trouble,I'd stick with the original EFI460 swap I had planned.I've been building a few 331 strokers with Desktop Dynos, and came up with a few good versions.I did a 347,too(for fun....or the sake of argument). It was a powerhouse, too, but up in the rpm band(not what you want in a 4,750 lb. 4x4).The 331 I'm almost 99.5 percent positive I want to have built has it's peak power at lower rpm.If I remember correctly, peak horsepower was something like 367@5,000rpm.I don't have it in front of me,but that was a 331cid "302" with mildly ported heads,1.94" intake,1.60" exhaust valves, a mild roller camshaft installed(I'd have to look up exact specs on it...),headers,dual exhaust, and a Vortech supercharger with 5psi of boost. The other 331 I "built" had something like 346bhp.I forget the torque numbers. They were impressive, but nothing like my pickup's built EFI460!:7
