This Week We Had Two Very Cold Mornings, 11 To 12 Degrees, And My Truck Didn't Want To Start. It Turned Over A Few Time Before Starting. Battery Is Good And Truck Only Has 17400miles. Is This Normal Due To The Extreme Cold, This Has Never Happened During Slightly Warmer Mornings.
Once The Vehicle Started There Were No Problems With Idle Or Warning Lights. The Vehicle Only Sat For 12hrs During The Overnight Period.
What happened when it started a few times before turning over? Did it just die again? Also did you have to keep your foot on the pedal in order for the engine to keep runnig?
If it turned over a few times before starting and then everything was normal after, I would say it's a normal condition.
I can remember trying to start my 00 Excursion after it had sat in the freezing New England (I used to live in MA) overnight. It took a few more revolutions but it started right up.
I couldn't blame it really...imagine sitting outside in 11° weather overnight and then be asked to wake up in an instant.
This Morning It Was About 19 To 20 Degrees, Had Another Cold Start, However, Vehicle Ran Completely Normal Once Started. Now, When The Vehicle Sits All Day At Work, About 10.5hrs, In The Afternoon Cold, About 25 Degrees, It Starts Right Up Without Hesitation. Could The Fuel Be Freezing Up Or Anything Of That Nature? I Just Don't Want To Get Stuck Somewhere If This Is The Beginning A Problem With The Fuel Injection System.
I had the same problem but my symptoms were a little different. My truck took like 3 or 4 cranks in order to get it running but after each crank it would stall. I was told that it was the IAC. In the after noon though after sitting in the parking lot in warmer temps for 6 to 7 hours it would start up fine. It also did this in the rain to. Does your truck do it in the rain?
Never Occured In The Rain, Just Extreme Cold. Problem Only Started The Past Week. We Have Been Getting Low Temps In The Low Teens (12-13 Degrees) During The Overnight And About 15 To 19 Degrees In The Morning.
If It Is The Iac, Is It An Expensive Fix Or Is It Covered By My 3yr 36000 Mile Warranty.
That sounds weird. I have a 2005 V-10 and I also live in NJ. Same cold temps. Mine starts right away. I routinely go out to the WaWa (you fom NJ know what that is!) late at night while it has been 10 to 15 degrees and no issues.
If your truck is under warranty, you need to take it to the dealer. Could be the starter is having issues?
