Transmission mount nut size

Ok, when I unbolted the crossmember to transmission mount nuts (oil pan gasket change), I snapped one of the studs, so I had to buy a new transmission mount. Well, as one of the nuts is welded to the stud, I have to go get a new one. The ford dealer has none and cannot order any, but the parts guy said it was a 7/16" corse thread nut. I thought that was weird, because I had to use an 18mm socket to get it off. But then again, a 3/4" thread is too big, and I thought maybe the factory nuts had standard threads, but a metric width (you never know). I got a 7/16" corse thread nut, which is too small, go figure. Does anyone know the actual size of the studs on the transmission mount before I go off to the hardware store again for a nut? Is this seriously like the only place on a 1988 truck where they use metric fastners? Oh Ford...

If you still have the old mount or the broken stud take it with you to the hardware. While I don't remember what size they were, I had to get some last fall and they were metric. Generally engine fasteners are SAE and body/chassis are metric.
