Freirefishing...My problems are similar, however it tends to happen during the first 10 minutes or so that the truck has been running... depending on how cold the weather is.
If I'm driving down the street and it's time for the tranny to switch gears... it's like it goes into neutral for a couple seconds... then catches the gear. Or if I'm stopped at a light, when it turns green... the truck might not go for a couple seconds.
Which I know this sounds a lot like a tranny problem... and that's what I'm trying to figure out... is it tranny or coil pack?
But like I said in an earlier post... I've been having this problem for about 3 years.
man that stinks to be honest speaking from experience, i didnt have any slow progressing problems, it just happened.
it went from driving frine one day to some taking out half my engine the next, i spent 3 days changing stuff, still driving 40 miles to work, feeling like a jerk driving home having to pull over into the break down lane to climb the hills, i had to floor it from about 1/2 mile out to maintain at least 55-60 mph when i hit the hill, after climbing it i would be at 30-35 mph.
it all lasted about 5 days until i figured it was the coil packs with some friends, instantly it was cured.
i was having a tough time with 5 days, no way 3yrs for me. good luck buddy i hope it doesnt break the bank for you.
Ok goosefreak, good feedback. would be helpful if you could find the emissions testing results & the repairs that were done, or parts that were replaced.
What did "conditional pass", on the emissions test mean????
Sounds like you indeed do, or did have at least two separate problems & imo none of them sound like a coil pack at this point.
The high nitrogen oxide readings could well have been caused by a misbehaving EGR system, although the EGR valve itself isn't usually the problem, unless it's falling apart from rust. Usually it's the DPFE sensor, or a vacuum leak somewhere.
On the shift problem, it sure sounds like there is something going on with the tranny!!!!
Have you checked the tranny fluid level lately????
Do you have signs of any tranny fluid leaks????
With this many KM's, have you ever had the tranny fluid & filter changed???? If so, how many KM's on this fluid & filter change & who's fluid are you now using????
ok, my problem today is: I was driving down the highway and the truck started acting like it was running on 5 cylinders instead of 6. AND it was shaking when I would let off the gas. So the first thing I think (Because this really hasn't happened this bad before.) was "I'm close to being empty. maybe I should go get some gas." So I did, I pull off the highway and put some supreme in (hoping higher octane will help) and while in park, I tried reving it up, but it would not rev like it normally does (hesitation, like it's a fuel problem or not running on all clylinders.) so I drove to work. and now I am here trying to figure out what's the problem. I hope when I leave i am not stuck on the highway. What is a coil pack? and is it easy to replace on my own? oh and the "check engine light" came on after I stopped at gas station.

Reason: forgot something

Forget about the coilpack for now. Bring the truck to your local Autozone/Advanced Auto etc. and get the codes pulled. Otherwise you'll just be guessing.
Thank you rockledge, I went and bought the code scanner ($69 compared to $35 for "loaning it to me" at Autozone) pulled the code, it was misfiring on the 4th cylinder (P0304) so I decided to replace the plugs and wires, rechecked the computer, it was perfect after that. hopefully though I don't have a problem again with it fouling out. The plug was super dirty.
