worth it?
I might be able to get my hands on an '87 F350 460/c6 for 100 dollars (guy says he doesn't know what shape the engine/transmission is in.. he never tried to start it, which I assume means its in BAD shape..) but how much off of the truck is useable on the bronco or worth switching to?
I would think the front/rear axles are useable (sterling and a dana 60f?)
And the engine is probably rebuildable, no?
Just need to find a trailer long enough to fit a crew cab on
Unless you guys tell me no

ughhh, just found its a 4x2. I'm thinking it's probably not worth my time now, it would be a 3hour+ round trip for an engine/transmission that I have no idea what condition they're in and it might be a dually - the ad did say dana rear, hmm.
so, 100 dollars for a questionable engine/transmission? I'm not sure.

well, my dad needs a rear for his '95 that was in a wreck... if its not a dually maybe I'll convince him to buy it and then I'll "take the engine off his hands for him"
and i've been looking for a 460... I already have the c6. I just don't know how much of a chance i'm taking - not that its a huge amount of money or anything, but it'd be a big waste of time if the 460 was useless.

shoot as heavy as those 460's are you could take it to the metal yard and prolly get $50 out of it!
drw and srw rear axles are no different. my buddies sterling came out of a dually and it is exactly the same as mine. the wheels they use are special so they dont have to make a special dually rear. now the fronts that are dually only have a hub assembly that extends out. and they are easy to change out. just for future reference

alright, just to make sure - the 2wd rear will bolt right up to my dad's '95 f350 4x4? (assuming the ratios are correct)
do you know how the speed sensor setup works on a '95 vs an '87?
and last but not least - what year did the 460 go EFI?

there is no speed sensor on the rear of a 87, the speedometer is cable driven off of the back of the trans, or transfer case. if there is cruise in the truck, it has some type of speed sensor at the speedo gear also.
every 87 460 i have ever seen has had a carb on it, i have heard of 87 injected 460's, but never seen one. all 88 460's had injection.
